Oh Hot Damn: These Are My Jams (vol 4: Summer Songs 2000)

Summer is always a great time for music. Those are the songs you make memories to- hanging out at the beach, driving around with your friends, bonfires in your backyard. Summer songs always have the ability to take me back to certain years as if they were yesterday.

I've been making "best of summer" mixes so long, I used to make them on tapes, and I made covers for said tapes by drawing palm trees with markers, scanning them and formatting them in ClarisWorks (remember clarisworks??)

The best thing about these mixes (besides being mildly horrified at some of my choices) is that you can look at them and see the evolution of my musical taste, and also tell what I did that summer. I'm going to post all my lists, one each week, leading up to August when I'll make a list of all my favorite songs from this summer.

I give you my list from 2000. I was 15, and this was a time before ipods (or atleast a time before I had an ipod.) I spent my days babysitting the kids down the street from me and watching TRL with them so they could track the progress of NSync's "It's Gonna Be Me" as it climbed up the charts. I was experiencing the resurgence of my love for Hanson, and the beginning of my love for Eve 6.

The Best of Summer 2000
Everclear: Wonderful
B-44: Get Down
Dr Dre/Snoop Dogg: Next Episode
Lit: Over My Head
Eve 6: Promise
Matchbox 20: Bent
Vertical Horizon: You're a God

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Otherside
Incubus: Stellar
KEF: Hottie Boombalottie (I totally still like this song.)
